We stock the materials that matter—pavers, natural stone, segmental retaining wall block, base aggregates, polymeric sand, edging, and drainage—so you’re not waiting on freight. Fort Ashby’s story begins on the mid-18th-century frontier. In October 1755, Colonel George Washington ordered a stockade on the east side of Patterson Creek—later known as Fort Ashby—to protect settlers during the French and Indian War. The fort was completed within weeks under Captain John Ashby and saw action in 1756 before the site was eventually abandoned and later preserved; the surviving log barracks are now a museum operated by local volunteers. Through the early American period the settlement grew along the creek valley. Learn more from the Fort Ashby page and the town’s Wikipedia entry.
