Description

What Is Concrete Sand

Concrete sand is a type of sand often used as an aggregate in concrete and asphalt mixtures. It is washed and then screened and processed to make sure there are no large chunks in it, but it has larger grains than other types of sand such as masonry sand.

Sometimes concrete sand is referred to as Class A sand.

How To Use Concrete Sand

Concrete sand is often used in asphalt and concrete mixtures, but it has a wide variety of uses in landscaping and construction other than just that.

Here are a few ways you could use it:

  • As pipe bedding
  • As a paver base, or for filling cracks between pavers
  • As a base below pools
  • For holding pipes, septic tanks, and stones in place while still providing adequate drainage
  • For leveling out uneven ground
  • For traction on icy roads or parking lots
  • As a topdressing for lawns and golf courses

There are lots of uses for this material! Because of its coarseness, it is generally used as a base or construction material rather than as a top layer.
